SYNOPSIS:
Set in a small South African town, Black and Blue takes place at the height of the apartheid era. Mrs. Swart lives the typical sixties’ middle-class "Blou Rokkie" housewife existence, with the latest electrical appliances and stylish yet demure dress sence.
When her apparently ‘ideal’ life is shattered by the suicide of her husband, Mrs Swart is thrust into darkly magical journey of self discovery. Her only guide in this frighteningly unfamiliar territory is an enigmatic gardener called Jackson.
Black and Blue is a uniquely South African story of spiritual rebirth, a heartfelt comedy with the visual style of 'Amélie' and the relationship drama of ‘Driving Miss Daisy’.
